1
Q

What is addition polymerisation?

A

Polymerisation between alkenes

2
Q

What is an initiator?

Why are small amounts of initiator used in addition polymerisation?

A

It forms free radicals and is needed to start a polymer chain
Only a small amount is needed as too much creates smaller chains

3
Q

How do you represent an addition polymer?

A

Square brackets
n outside brackets, bottom right
Single bond that has opened up
Bonds extend over the brackets

4
Q

How do you name addition polymers?

A

Poly(monomer)

5
Q

What are the properties of addition polymers?

A

Unreactive
