Q

why are triglycerides high in potential energy?

A

since it has 3 fatty acid molecules bound to a glycerol backbone which is high in C-H and C-C bonds which carry a chemical potential energy.

Q

What is beta oxidation?

A

does not produce ATP but releases a large number of NADH and FADH2 which provide electrons for the synthesis of ATP by oxidative phosphorylation. the end protect is Acetyl-CoA which feeds the citric acid cycle.
