Q

Arm

A

Anterior compartment

Posterior compartment

2
Q

Anterior fascial compartment and it’s neurovascular structure

A

“Flexor of elbow joint”

  1. Coracobrachialis
  2. Brachialis
  3. Biceps (long, short head)

~ Musculocutaneous nerve
~ Brachial artery

++median nerve

3
Q

Posterior fascial compartment and it’s neurovascular structure

A

“Extensors of elbow joint”

Triceps

  • long head
  • lateral head
  • medial head

~ Radial nerve
~ Profunda brachii artery

++ulnar nerve

4
Q

Cutaneous supply of the arm

A
  1. Lateral cutaneous nerve (branch of radial C5,C6):
    Lateral surface below deltoid
  2. Medial cutaneous nerve (branch of T1,T2):
Medial side of the arm and armpit
  3. Posterior cutaneous nerve (branch of radial C8):
    Back of the arm
5
Q

Superficial veins of the arm

A
  1. Cephalic vein: Lateral to biceps, drain into axillary vein at infraclavicular fossa
  2. Basilic veins: Medial side of biceps, pierce deep fascia halfway (at lower border of teres major) to become venae comitantes of brachial artery to form axillary veins
6
Q

Origin and insertion of long head, short head of biceps

A

Origin: Supraglenoid tubercle (LH), Coracoid process (SH)
Insertion: Radial tuberosity (Same)

7
Q

Supinator of forearm?

A

Long head of biceps brachii

8
Q

Origin and insertion of brachialis?

A

Origin: Anterior lower half of humerus
Insertion: Coronoid process of ulna

9
Q

Origin and insertion of coracobrachialis?

A

Origin: Coracoid process
Insertion: Medial aspect of humerus

10
Q

Origin and insertion of triceps?

A

Origin

  1. Long head: infraglenoid tubercle
  2. Lateral head: Upper posterior shaft of humerus
  3. Medial head: Lower posterior shaft of humerus

Insertion: Olecranon process of ulna

11
Q

Branches of brachial artery

A
  1. Nutrient artery to humerus
  2. Profunda artery
  3. Superior ulnar collateral
  4. Inferior ulnar collateral
  5. Muscular branch
12
Q

Describe median, ulnar and radial nerve pathway

A
  1. Median: follow brachial artery (ant compartment)
  2. Ulnar: Medial posterior compartment, insert medial to olecranon fossa
  3. Radial: Lateral posterior compartment, comes anterior at cubital fossa lateral to brachialis
