metencephalon of the hindbrain

  • largest division formed by the lateral hemispheres
  • Planning movements and motor learning. Also regulates coordination of muscle activation and is important in visually guided movements

A
  • composed of vermis and intermediate zones of cerebellar hemispheres
  • Involved in regulating body movements by allowing for error correction and also carries proprioceptive information

A
  • flocculonodular lobe and vermis
  • controls balance and ocular reflexes, mainly fixation on a target
  • Receives inputs from the vestibular system and sends outputs back to the vestibular nuclei
