Q

divergent constructive plates

A

divergent/constructive plate boundaries are when two plates separate. Magma rises to fill the gap. Volcanoes and mid ocean ridges are formed.

Q

convergent/destructive plates

A

convergent/destructive plate boundaries are when two plates collide.
Volcanoes and fold mountains are formed.

Q

Passive/transform plates

A

passive/transform plate boundaries are when two plates slide by/push past each other. Earthquakes occur.

Q

Mid-ocean ridge

A

A mid-ocean ridge is formed when two plates separate under water. As plates separate the magma goes upwards and cools when it hits the sea water. When it coolds, it makes a new ocean floor. The ocean floor builds up to make ridges and mountain.s An example of a mid-ocean ridge is the mid-Atlantic Ridge.
