Elizabeths prejudice and character Flashcards

1
Q

Elizabeths kindness to Wickham and her change of heart

A

Elizabeth was the happy woman by whom he finally seated himself.
She honoured him for such feelings and thought him handsomer than ever.
She went away with her head full of him.
There was truth in his looks.
Believes he is honourable.
The most agreeable man I ever saw
CHANGES
I have never been much in love
He shall be mercenary and she shall be foolish.
She tried to recollect some instance of goodness.. or benevolence. But no such recollection befriended her.
Hatefully mercenary
She grew absolutely ashamed of herself

Q

Elizabeth loses prejudice to Darcy and discovers herself

A

Must make him entirely blameless
She had been blind, partial, prejudice, absurd.
How just a humliation
till this moment I never knew myself
she blushed again and again.
Why is he so altered?
pleased to find his memory so exact.
Gratitude for loving her still
she felt that - she could have loved hum, as now when all love must be vain.
She was humbled, but she was proud of him.
He is a gentleman and I am a gentleman’s daughter; so far we are equal
I hardly know when it began
I must date it from first seeing Pemberly

Pair of fine eyes
not formed for ill humour
admiration of the brilliancy ( of elizabeths complexion

Q

With Mr Collins

A

She was selected from among her sisters as worthy
You are too hasty sir
I am not one of those young ladies who are so doing to risk their happiness
Mr Collins is a conceited, pompous, narrow-minded silly man
Prepared to see him in his glory

Q

Prejudice towards Darcy

+ proposal

A

I quite detest the man
I could easily forgive his pride if he had not mortified mine.
She liked him too little.
Was far from suspecting that she was herself becoming an object of some interest in the eyes of his friend.
I have never liked him
Such injustuce!
Oh that abominable Darcy
There is a stubborness about me
He had ruined for Jane every hope of happiness
The cause, his pride and caprice
You choose to tell me that you liked me against your will, against your reason and even against your character?
I have every reason
to think ill of you.
Had you behaved in a more gentlemanlike manner
You were the last man in the world whom I could ever be prevailed on to marry
