Q

Which is a slower and more prolonged effect and why: An endocrine signal or a neuro signal?

Q

What does the hypothalamus do?

A

Integrates nero and endocrine systems- secretes hormones that inhibit or stimulate the release of hormones from the pituitary

Q

How does the hypothalamus, pituitary, and thyroid play a part in thyroid hormone?

A

The hypothalamus releases thyroid releasing hormone which tells the pituitary to release thyroid stimulating hormone which tells the thyroid to release thyroid hormone. When enough thyroid hormone is in the bloodstream, the hypothalamus and pituitary both stop making TRH and TSH

Q

What does the pituitary gland do?

A

Releases hormones that regulate the thyroid, adrenal, ovaries, and testes. Anterior- Adrenocorticotropic hormone, FSH, TSH, LH, GH, Prolactin Posterior- ADH, Oxytocin
