1
Q

What do genetic diagrams show?

A

The possible genes of offspring.

2
Q

What does the term homozygous mean?

A

If an organism has 2 alleles for a particular gene the same.

3
Q

What does the term heterozygous mean?

A

If an organism has two alleles for a particular gene are different.

4
Q

What happens if 2 alleles are different?

A

Only one can determine what characteristics is present.

5
Q

What is a dominant allele?

A

The allele for the characteristic that’s shown is called the dominant allele.
Marked by a capital letter.

6
Q

What is a recessive allele?

A

Shown by using small letters.

7
Q

How would an organism show a recessive characteristic?

A

Both its alleles must be recessive.

8
Q

How would an organism show a dominant characteristic?

A

The alleles can display either CC or Cc, as the dominant allele overrules the recessive one of the organism is heterozygous.

9
Q

What does genotype mean?

A

What alleles you have.

10
Q

What does phenotype mean?

A

Means the actual characteristic.

11
Q

What is a monohybrid cross?

A

When you cross 2 parents to look at just one characteristic.
