16
Q

what is the treatment for a subdural haemorrhage?

A

irrigation/evacuation

craniotomy

17
Q

what is the possible complications of a subdural haemorrhage?

A

raise in ICP –> shifting in midline away from the clot

tentorial herniation and coning

18
Q

what is a extradural haemorrhage?

A

fractures pterion causing lacerations of the middle meningeal artery and vein

19
Q

where does blood accumulate in an extradural haemorrhage?

A

between blood and bone

20
Q

how does an extradural haemorrhage present as?

A

lucid interval pattern - increasing severity of headache + confusion followed by hemiparesis with brisk reflects + up going planar

21
Q

what happens when bleeding continues in an extra dural haemorrhage?

A

ipsilateral pupil dilates
coma
bilateral limb weakness

22
Q

what does a CT show in a extradural haemorrhage?

A

clot more round shaped bc tough dural attachments to the skull keep it more localised

23
Q

how is an extradural haemorrhage treated?

A

stabilise + transfer urgently to neurosurgery unit
