Structure and form

A

Dramatic monologue, four lines for six stanzas
abrupt defined -> power, strength, control, continuity, balance
Controlled punctuation kept tight within the lines, occasional enjambement further establishes The Hawk in control and can break his own rules / unstoppable force

Q

‘whole of creation’ to produce my ‘foot’ my ‘feather’

A

Self important, every detail of the killing machine is perfected for it’s master lol
‘foot’ ‘feather’
fricative words show fleeting insignificance of these parts therefore how important hawk is to have had the whole of creation produce these parts

Q

Link to

Ozymandias

A

Ozymandias -> percy bysshe shelley
both revolve around HUBRIS, ARROGANCE, POWER, EMPIRES, CONTROL
‘look on my works ye mighty and despair’ -> irony as the works are no nothing but a ruined empire -> DRAMATIC IRONY as this is the what will happen to the hawk? ( ‘ i AM going to keep things like this’ ‘ the earth turns upwards for my inspection’)
‘King of kings’ ‘ hold creation in my foot’
‘colossal wreck’ -> mocks empire as the only powerful thing about it is the size of the ruins it has become
‘cold command’ ‘its is all mine’ ‘no arguements assert my right’
