Before the patient comes…

  1. make sure microphones are calibrated
  2. measure your probe tubes accordingly
  3. enter the hearing threshold into real ear machine
  4. preset hearing instrument in test box if possible

  1. otoscopy to check for wax
  2. place probe microphone on ear and probe down ear canal
  3. set them as close as possible to external speaker (5 feet from any walls)

A

Gives us an idea of over or under amplification
