A

incomplete top-down revolution and Ludendorffs october reform, with the prupose of shifitng blame>stab in the back myth
Treaty of V- ‘Diktat’- sole responsiblity- didn’t understand
judiciary, army, civil servive- traditonal insitions unreformed and still biased to autocratic rule
Judegemtn: But 76.1% in Jan 1919 election so dealt with effectively

A

system pf PR- argued it was onyl fair way but 6,000 votes for 1 seat
non-democratic aprties allowed to join- encourgaed splinter arties, solit by region, class >unwokable (unsatble)
Article 48- balance of power betwenen Reichstag and President
Judgement: Howver, electorate mainly voted fro democratic aprties, though support decreaased in July 1920 elctions and vote for DVP/KPD increased

Stresemann- intoriciton of Rentnenamrk (Schact)- stableislation
Foreign policy- Dawes Plan, Young Plan
Onyl 18% suported National Oppostion pledge by Hitler
Judgement: Howver, econmic problems were disgudised by foreign loans (dependant on world ecnomy)> underlying problems remained

A

Spartisit revolt of 1919- showed upport for communism/feeling of incomplete revolution but sucessfully ptu down by army and freikorps

  • death of luxemburg/Liebknecht- left elft destroyed/disunited
  • right- kapp putsch=- Wiamr survived by showed unreliabiltiy fo army
  • munich beer hall putsch- defeated [with army] but baised towards right

Overall the Weiamr governemtn were able todeal fairly well..?

A

with problems- attemtps to overthwo the government were stopped
Stresemann’s policies successfully deakt with economic crisis- though to an extent {underlying problems were still there)
Less good at dealng with internal problems- too easyf ro anti-democratic parties to gain power
deal with T of V/stab in the back- thereofre it was overall unsuccesfu due to its funamental shrotcomings
