Describe interviews

A
Semi-structured = some structure but lots of flexibility, sets of questions/topics to be covered that is set beforehand but can alter as interview progresses 
Unstructured = open-ended, proceed without any pre-structured questions/topics, conversational, begin with broad opening questions which gets participant to talk about topic from their point of view
Structured = interviewers decide on questions/topics beforehand and strictly stick to these questions only

Tips for conducting interviews

A
  • Begin with easy questions
  • Difficult questions should be saved until later on
  • Avoid leading questions
  • Avoid jargon
  • Use open-ended questions so participant can provide more detail
