1
Q

Basal ganglia and cerebellar responsibility

A

Maintain muscle tone and control movements when walking

Coordinate motor activity, maintain equilibirium, posture

2
Q

Corticospinal

A

Carries inhibitory tone

3
Q

graphesthesia
Sterognosis
Tactile extension

A

Can you tell the number
Can you ID object in hand
Can you only feel on one side

4
Q

CN1 test and anosmia

A

Smoking could impair

Don’t use noxious

5
Q

How to chekc visuakl acuity

A

Snellen chart @ 14 inch or ideal at 20 feet

Best vision at line patient can read 1/2

Use best corrected

6
Q

Bitemporal hemmianopsia

A

Lesion of optic tract

Lose lateral fields of both eyes

7
Q

Eye opening and closing

A

Opening - 3

Closing - 7

8
Q

Anisocoria

A

Different sized pupikls

9
Q

Pupillary light reflex

A

Affarent is CN 2
Efferent is CN 3

Both eyes Should constrict when light applied

10
Q

Swiniging flashlight

A

optic N damage

Affected pupil will respond less vigorously from indirect response

If left is lesion, when shine in right, normal…when shine in left, left and right both constrict less than at right…basically dilates from constricted state

11
Q

Marcus Gunn Pupil

A

Swinging flashlight test

Most commonly from optic neuritis seocndary to MS

12
Q

Near reactions

A

Pupils constrict
Eyes converge
Lens becomes more convex by contraction of ciliary muscle

13
Q

Adie’s tonic pupil

A

Parasympathetic denervation

Constricts poorly to light but reacts better to accomodation

Won’t constrict no matter which eye it was shown into

14
Q

Argyll Robertson pupils

A

Prostitut’es

Bilateral small

Reduce in size on a near object but not when exposed to bright light

Neurosyphilis

15
Q

If no red reflex

A

Then obstruction between cornea and retina…could be retinoblastoma

16
Q

Which is lateral, macula or disc?

A

Macula

17
Q

Increased cup to disc and blurred borders

A

Glaucoma

Papilledema

18
Q

Arteries and veins of eye

A

Arteries - light red, smaller, bright light reflex

Veins - dark red, larger, may be pulsatile ***

19
Q

Corneal reflex

A

5 - affarent

7 - efferent

20
Q

Trigem exam

A

PInprick and fine touch to each branck
Corneal reflex
Jaw movements and reflex
Palpation of jaw muscles
