A

Patient experiences own thoughts as if they were spoken aloud

Sensory stimulus is real but there is a delusional thought attached - primary delusion

A

A

> 16 - use form 1, request for admission

+ form 2, consent for treatment

A

Admit under MHA, use form 1 + 2, signed by guardian

A

Police can apprehend someone

A

Admits person for 48 hrs

Can be done within 14 days of seeing someone/ lasts 14 days

Second medical cert needed to extend beyond initial 48 hrs

A

What are the criteria for an involuntary admission?

A

Pt must meet 4 criteria:

  • suffering from mental disorder that impairs person’s ability to react to environment or associate with others
  • requires psychiatric treatment in a facility
  • requires care, supervision + control to prevent mental or physical deterioration or for person own protection or protection of others
  • not a suitable voluntary pt
