1
Q

What are the phases of Mitosis?

A

Interphase, prophase, metaphase, anaphase, telophase

2
Q

In which phase does the cell grow the most?

A

Interphase

3
Q

Define Mitosis?

A

Cell division

4
Q

What happens to the chromosomes during Mitosis?

A

The number of chromosome stay the same

5
Q

What happens during interphase?

A

The centrioles and chromosomes are duplicated.

6
Q

What happens during prophase?

A

Nuclear membrane disappers. Nucleolous disappears. Chromosome coils up. Spindle fibers attach from the poles to the chromosomes.

7
Q

What happens during metaphase?

A

The chromosomes line up in the equitorial plate. The spindle move them.

8
Q

What happens during anaphase?

A

The spindles pull the chromosomes apart and the centromial breaks and disappears.

9
Q

What happens during telophase?

A

The spindles fibers disappear. The chromosomes uncoil. The nuclelous comes back and is duplicated. The nucleus is duplicated. the cell plate has split the cell in two.

10
Q

What % is similar between animal & plant mitosis?

A

85%

11
Q

Which stage of Mitosis is the longest?

A

Interphase

12
Q

Until which phase is animal and Plant Mitosis the same?

A

The first part of prophase.

13
Q

What happens after the chromotin material coils up?

A

The asters in animal cells hold the centrioles in place which produce spindle fibers.

14
Q

What is duplicated during animal Interphase that is not created during plant interphase?

A

Centrioles.

15
Q

What happens during plant metaphase?

A

The Spindles pull apart the chromosomes.

16
Q

Compare and contrast plant telophase with animal telophase.

A

The Spindle disappear, the chromosomes uncoil. Nucleolus and Nucleus are duplicated in both. However, in plant telophase, the cell plate creates a rift from inside out. In animal telophase, the cell furrows from the outside in to separate.

17
Q

During what stage does the aster disappear in animal Mitosis?

A

Telophase.

18
Q

What causes the Chromosomes to move apart during anaphase?

A

Spindles. The chromosomes do not move on their own.

19
Q

What is the difference between Mitosis and Meiosis?

A

Meiosis does not result in the same amount of chromosomes. Meiosis is sexual reproduction and Mitosis is asexual reproduction.
