  • History and examination
  • CT scan
  • Exclusion by absence of blood products in the CSF

What is a subarachnoid haemorrhage?

A
  • Bleeding into the subarachnoid space, between the arachnoid and pia mater of the meninges

A

The branch points of the Circle of Willis

Ways to treat intracranial aneurysms?

A
  • Endovascular coil embolization
  • Surgical clipping
  • Treat complications (hydrocephalus/vasopastic infarcts)

What is endovascular coil embolization?

A

Catheter passed up the femoral artery to the brain, releases coils into the aneurysm which induce clotting

A

The right middle cerebral artery (MCA)
