1
Q

Other than underexposure, what is the artifact?

A

Grid lines

(usually due to moving grid; it is either moving too fast or NOT turned on)

2
Q

Close up, it is not a processing problem, but what happens when you clean intensifying screens and put in wet?

A

Streaking- need to let them dry; wipe clean w/towel and drape towel over them to prevent dust from getting on it

3
Q

What kind of screens and why shouldn’t they be used?

A

Split screens = unnecessary radiation exposure

4
Q

What is the problem?

A

Light leak exposure

5
Q

What is wrong?

A

Double exposure (Nasium and Base Posterior)

6
Q

What is the small white thing?

A

Screen pitting/ cracked screen

7
Q

What’s wrong?

A

Lack of film-screen contact

Notice how it is slightly blurry on

the bottom of the film

8
Q

What are the little black dots from?

A

From static electricity (also note that the exposure is too light but can see some structures)

Note: ↑ kV 15% AND ↑ mAs 50%

9
Q

Where is the dirt?

What is the wavy thing?

A

IN the cassette or ON the screen

Chemical splash on screen &
Dirt on screen

Note: Make sure to specify “IN” or “ON”

10
Q

What are the artifacts?

A

Support layer of cassette is in backwards

11
Q

P-A chest film; what is wrong?

A

Grid cut-off
Can occur from:
Tube shift (MC)
Using focused grid
Could also be due to a bent grid holder
FFD out of range = bilateral grid cut off
Parallel grid = bilateral grid cut off

Note:

NOTICE that one side is lighter than the other…notice the different color of air

12
Q

Why are there 2 markers?

A

Double Exposure

13
Q

What’s Wrong?

A

Cassette has fallen in tray

14
Q

This film is underexposed, what is other problem?

A

Grid Lines

Note:

To fix the underexposure, Inc. kV 15% OR 2x mAs

15
Q

What is wrong with this film?

A

Film Grain

Note:

Can be due to too fast of screens or too few photons (too high kV and too low mAs)

16
Q

What is wrong?

A

Hair on screen

17
Q

What’s wrong?

A

Static Electricity

Little black dots

18
Q

What is wrong?

A

Grid Cut-Off

Note: Notice that ½ of the film is lighter on one side

19
Q

What’s Wrong?

A

Pitting of screen (white blob) & cracks

Note: Static = Black; Pitting = White

20
Q

What are these?

A

Types of static electricity marks

21
Q

What’s on this film?

A

Thumbnail mark (black kink artifact) from bending film

22
Q

What will this cause?

A

Kinks

23
Q

What is wrong w/this film?

A

Film grain or quantum mottle (MC cause is due to too fast of screensà creates a loss of photographic detail)

24
Q

This is a close-up of the previous film…what is it showing?

A

Film Grain

25
Q

What is wrong?

A

Black kink due to film bending

26
Q

What is wrong?

A

Light Exposure

27
Q

What color of light and screens gives off that light?

A
LEFT = Purple film; rare earth screens/rxn to green light
RIGHT = Green film; calcium tungstate/rxn to blue light
28
Q

Other than a shield problem, what is wrong?

A

Cassette is in backwards

29
Q

What is wrong?

A

Unilateral Grid Cut-off

Notice the different color of “air”

30
Q

What is wrong?

A

Cassette Backwards

31
Q

What happened?

What condition is the screen in?

A

Pitting of screens

OLD screen

32
Q

What is wrong?

A

Grid Lines

33
Q

What is wrong?

A

Film mottle or grain

34
Q

What is wrong?

A

Dust IN cassette or ON screen

35
Q

What happened?

A

Double Exposure

36
Q

What is this?

A

MUMMY!!! (NO nasal septum…pulled brains out!)

37
Q
A
