1
Q

Atelectasis Def

Types

A

Airless lung

Complete/lobar/subsegmental/round

2
Q

Atelectasis can shfit

A
Fissures
Vessels
Airways
Diaphragm
Mediastinum
3
Q

Obstructive At

A

Obstruction btw trachea/alveoli
Alv gas is resorped by pulm cap
Involved lung is dense w less air
Change in position/shape of fissure

4
Q

Obstructive mechanism

A

May not totally collapse (POP-not infected)

Will see densely opacified lung that confroms to lung segment w/o air bronchograms

5
Q

Mediastinum typically positioned

A

left as we move down

6
Q

Compressive atelect

A

loss of volume adjacent to PTX/PE/SOL

7
Q

PNA vs GGO

A

Consolidation/dense/no volume lost

Diffuse, hazy, structures seen

8
Q

Air bronchogram

A

Parenchyma is dense due to airspace filling and bronchus is air filled

PNA and compressive atelectasis

9
Q

Pleural effusion

A

Fluid btw visceral/parietal pleura

Uniform density, no lung markings

10
Q

PE exudates

Transexudates

A

E- inflam/neoplasia of pleural surfaces leads to capillary leakage of hi protein fluid (loculate)

T- inc HP and dec OP leaks low protein fluid (free flowing, bilateral)

11
Q

LLL atelectasis

A

Pull LPA behind heart (cant see it)

Lose angle of heart/diaphragm

12
Q

PNA vs atelectasis

A

Fever, leukocytosis, Pleurisy, sputum all PNA
