What does MRI actually look at?

A

Hydrogen protons..

What’s an easy fluid to look at to tell if your looking at a T1 or T2 MRI?

A

CSF
T1: CSF is dark.
T2: CSF is bright.

What other tissue/fluid do metastases in the liver look like?

A

Metastases look like spleen.

What other tissue/fluid do hemangiomas/cysts in the liver look like?

A

Hemangiomas and cysts look like CSF.

What is NASH?

A

Non-alcoholic Steatohepatitis.

It seems to be associated with obesity, but it’s at this point mysterious.

What does opposed-phase T1 imaging of the liver help you see?

A

Fat.

What does genetic hemochromatosis look like on MRI? (treatment?)

A

Very dark liver on T1.

Treatment = phlebotomy. - the one remaining indication for bloodletting.

What’s a good MRI-related imaging tool to help you see gallstones?

A

MRCP

What is a “double-duct” sign the pancreas suggestive of?

A

Pancreatic cancer.

What’s ERCP?

A

Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio-Pancreatography… good for looking for… stones and aberrations in ducts that can be indicative of cancer.
