How did Germany recover socially?

A
  • Stresemann created the Youth Welfare Act- fixed poverty caused by hyperinflation and gave every child rights to healthcare and education.
  • Article 155 of Constitution- state must address housing shortage
  • Managed to control unemployment

How did Germany recover economically?

A
  • Stresemann promised to pay the reparations, called off passive resistance- Caused French to leave Ruhr.
  • Currency changed to the Retenmark to end hyperinflation
  • Dawes Plan: Gave Germany longer period of time to pay reparations and they were given $45 million loan from America which proved effective until the WSC in 1929
  • Young Plan: Reduced the amount of money Germany had to pay (from 269 billion gold marks to 112)
