1
Q

What is the Retina in the eye?

A

The inner layer of the eye which contains the receptor cells that are sensitive to light. These cells are called rods and cones.

2
Q

What type of light are rods sensitive to?

A

Dim light/black and white images.

3
Q

What type of light are cones sensitive to?

A

Colour and details.

4
Q

What is the fovea/yellow spot?

A

The most sensitive part of the retina.

5
Q

What is the blind spot?

A

The point in the retina where the optic nerve attaches (no light sensitive cells).

6
Q

What is the optic nerve?

A

What carries the nerve impulses away from the eye to the brain.

7
Q

What is the vitreous humour?

A

A transparent, jelly like substance which supports the back of the eye.

8
Q

What is the choroid?

A

The black layer in the eye containing lots of blood vessels.

9
Q

What is the cillary muscle?

A

The muscle which changes the thickness of the lens when focusing.

10
Q

What is the aqueous humour?

A

The watery liquid filling the front of the eye.

11
Q

What is the lens?

A

The part of the eye which changes thickness to focus light onto the retina.

12
Q

What is the iris?

A

The part of the eye which controls the amount of light entering.

13
Q

What are the suspensary ligaments?

A

The part that hold the lens in place.

14
Q

What is the sclera?

A

The tough, white protective layer around the eye.

15
Q

What is the conjunctiva?

A

He thin layer over the cornea.

16
Q

What is the stimulus and sense organ for balance?

A

The sense organ is ears and the stimulus is position.

17
Q

What is the stimulus and sense organ for hearing?

A

The sense organ is ears and the stimulus is sound.

18
Q

What is the stimulus and sense organ for sight?

A

The sense organ is eyes and the stimulus is light.

19
Q

What is the stimulus and sense organ for smell?

A

The sense organ is nose and the stimulus is chemicals.

20
Q

What is the stimulus and sense organ for taste?

A

The sense organ is tongue and the stimulus is chemicals.

21
Q

What is the stimulus and sense organ for touch?

A

The sense organ is skin and the stimulus is pressure.

22
Q

What is the stimulus and sense organ for temperature?

A

The sense organ is skin and the stimulus is temperature change.
