1
Q

What protection do you have in Normal Law?

5

A

-High Speed
-High AOA (Alpha protection)
-Load Factor (+2.5/-1)
-Pitch Attitude (30 deg up/15 deg down)
-Bank Angle (67 deg)

2
Q

*How does the high speed protection operate?

A

If Vmo/Mmo plus a predetermined factor (6 kts/0.1M) is exceeded, the system induces a pitch up input to limit aircraft speed.

3
Q

*Can the pilot override this (high speed protection) pitch-up?

A

No

4
Q

*What is Alpha Max?

A

The maximum AOA allowed in Normal Law, indicated by the top of the red strip on the airspeed scale.

5
Q

*How does High Angle of Attack Protection operate?

A

When the AOA exceeds Alpha Prot, pitch trim ceases and AOA is now proportional to sidestick deflection, not to exceed Alpha Max even with full aft sidestick deflection.

6
Q

What is Alpha Floor Protection?

A

When the AOA exceeds a specific threshold (between Alpha Prot and V Alpha Max) the A/THR is automatically activated and commands TOGA thrust, regardless of TL position.

7
Q

Alpha Floor Protection is a function of what system?

A

-A/THR
-Requires operative A/THR system to operate

8
Q

What happens to thrust and what annunciates on the FMA when you reach A Floor?

A

-Thrust……TOGA
-FMA………A. FLOOR

9
Q

What occurs during Alpha Floor Protection after speed increases above Vls?

A

FMA changes to TOGA LK

10
Q

How do you regain normal A/THR?

4

A

-Move TLs to the TOGA detent.
-Press the Instinctive Disconnect button.
-Return the TLs to the CL detent.
-Press the A/THR pb

11
Q

When is Alpha Floor Protection active?

A

From lift-off through 100 ft. RA on approach

12
Q

Can you override the high or low stabilities in Alternate Law?

A

Yes

13
Q

If you are in Alternate Law, what law would roll be?

A

Direct Law

14
Q

Can you stall the aircraft in Normal Law?

A

Not in Normal Law, but the aircraft can be stalled in all other laws.

15
Q

*What PDF indications indicate Normal Law?

2

A

-Green = for pitch, bank and overspeed limits
-Amber/black (A prot) airspeed tape

16
Q

*What is indicated if on the PFD pitch and bank limits are amber Xs?

A

You are not in Normal Law

17
Q

*What would cause you to revert to another law?

A

Multiple failures of redundant systems.

18
Q

*What law are you in when you perform the flight control check on the ground?

A

Normal law, ground mode.

19
Q

*Can the aircraft be flown with a loss of all flight computers?

A

Yes, in mechanical back up.

20
Q

*What protection do you have in ALTERNATE LAW?
3

A

-Load Factor
-High Speed Stability (nose up command) can be overridden
-Low Speed Stability (nose down command) can be overridden

21
Q

*Can you override High Stability in alternate law?

A

yes

22
Q

*What protection do you have in Direct Law?

A

None

23
Q

*If you are in Pitch Alternate Law, what law would roll be?

A

Direct Law

24
Q

*When is there a direct relationship between sidestick and flight control surfaces deflection?

A

-Normal law, ground mode.
-Direct law.
-Below 50’ in flare mode (pitch only).

25
Q

*How would you get into Abnormal Attitude Law?

A

By exceeding approximately double the Normal Law limits.

26
Q

*What is the purpose of Abnormal Attitude Law?

A

Allows the aircraft to be recovered from an unusual attitude.

27
Q

*After recovery from an unusual attitude, what law will you be in?

A

When the aircraft returns within normal flight envelope, the abnormal attitude law disengages, and aircraft remains in the alternate law with reduced protection for the remainder of the flight.

28
Q

*How is the airplane controlled in Mechanical Backup?

A

Pitch- Trim Wheel (Horizontal Stab)
Yaw- Rudder Pedals (rudder)
Speed-Thrust Levers.
