Uniskript is an innovative linguistic tool developed at the University of the Nations in Kona. It uses shapes and lines to iconically represent the speech production, and has several educational and clinical applications. In this series of flashcards, uniskript is used to teach the pronunciation of Biblical Hebrew and to train your brain to read form right to left. These cards are part of the Uniskript Hebrew Workshop and are do not require previous knowledge of phonetics or linguistics. They are meant to be used before you start learning the Hebrew alphabet. Uniskript is a preparation for you to learn Hebrew in the right way. Reading uniskript is unlike any other reading. Your vision, your hearing and your proprioception senses work together to create new synapses in your brain, imprinting new patterns of pronunciation and enhancing your phonemic awareness. Those skills will help you not only to learn Hebrew , but to learn any language in the future. However, in order to really benefit form uniskript, you need to read it in the right way. Don't associate the visemes with roman letters. Don't try to memorize the letters that correspond to each viseme. If you do that you would be sabotaging yourself. On the contrary, just look at the visemes and try to understand them. Then imitate the shape you see using your speech organs. As you do that, you will be reading the sounds as they are pronounced in Hebrew, instead of transferring the patterns used when you read in your own language.
