Q

Reasons for these cliffs being prone to collapse

A
  1. Rocks are weak sands and clays which are easily eroded
  2. Permeable rock lays on top of impermeable rock which causes water to ‘pond up’ between layers and makes rock heavier
  3. Area gets the prevailing south-westerly winds
  4. Several small streams run toward the coast but then disappear into permeable rock
  5. New buildings increase weight on rock and interfere with drainage
