What are the major sites of viral infection and disease?

A

• Major sites are: respiratory tract; GI tract; epithelial, mucosal, and endothelial lining of skin, mouth, and genitals; lymphoid tissue; liver and other organs; and CNS.

What are the flu-like Sx of viral infections?

A

• Fever, malaise, anorexia, headache, body aches are the classic flu-like symptoms that come with many viral infections. This is because viruses induce interferon and cytokines which increase body temp (fever) and make you feel worse.
