• Non-parametric test
• Only test the allows us to to measure relationships between categorical data
• Enables us to see whether frequency counts we obtain are significantly different from frequency counts we would expect by chance

• One variable (goodness of fit) = used when there is only one variable
• 2x2 = used when looking for an association between 2 variables each with 2 levels
• Rx2 = Used when looking for an association between 2 variables with more than 2 levels
