If i want to find a vein for CVC without ultrasound, what kinda needle should i use?
25 g seeker needle
then thread catheter over seeker needle
Steps of CVC insertion using ultrasound
-ID vein with US
-Use an introducer needle (such as a herken needle)
-Insert J wire through needle or catheter
-Remove needle
-Nick skin to enlarge opening
-Advance catheter over wire (never letting go of J wire) in a twisting motion
- remove j wire and cap catheter
