35. As a prophylactic measure, a basketball player is taped for an inversion ankle sprain. Explain the procedure for removing the tape.
a. The tape should be removed immediately after practice. The tip of the tape cutters should be dipped in a skin lubricant. The tape cutters should follow a path along the body’s natural contours; because the injury is an inversion sprain, the cut should take place on the medial side of the ankle. During cutting, the tape should be lifted up and away from the skin. During the actual removal, the tape should be slowly pulled in the direction of the natural hair growth. Following removal, the skin should be cleansed with tape removal solution and washed with soap and water. After thoroughly drying the area, it would be advantageous to apply a skin moisturizer to prevent dry skin.
