Tell me about yourself?
My name is Altaf and I am a fresh graduate with MSc in economics from the Uni Bonn. I also have about 15 months of relevant work experience in multinational organizations. Since I was based in DHL Freight Global head office, I have had opportunity to work with various teams from different countries.
I am someone who have had keen interest in working for Aldi Süd since March 2022. I applied for a working student position but unfortunately, I was not selected. Now I am done with my studies and looking for full time position and actively seeking full time positions in Aldi Süd. After thoroughly readying the job descriptions I believe that my profile meet the job requirements and I can do well in the position.

Why do you want to work here?
Firstly, I have talked to students from my Uni who work at Aldi Sud and they had only positive thing to say about the work environment. Secondly, Aldi does not need an introduction it has a strong reputation as a leading retailer that value, quality, efficiency and customer satisfaction. and I would love to work for such a well-respected organization.
What are your strengths?
I can bring a diverse set of skills to the role. But I believe my main strengths are
1. I have a background in finance and accounting and I have used many advanced IT tools such as SAP, Excel, Power BI and R. which can be valuable to the team.
2. I am detail oriented. That is I have worked with large financial and non-financial datasets and have always tried my best to provided error free and accurate analysis to my managers.
3. I am a great team player. I have collaborated with various teams during my work and have always contributed my tasks well and on time.
4. I was a part of UAT for salesforce and have Used Jira. I have also learned how to use service now. But have only raised one ticket for opening my account in CTB.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years’ time?
Well, if I am successful in the interview, I would like to get competent in the role as soon as possible. Based on my fast learning, previous experiences, It wouldn’t take long. Once I become trained in my role, I would like to become more experienced in my team. Its very important to me to be accepted by my team members and I want to do well in my appraisals. If an opportunity present itself to progress within the organization, that would be great. Overall, I want to see myself as a successful employee in your organization.
What are your weaknesses?
- German language, but I have started working on it these days.
- I used to watch a lot of news. But recently I have reduced it significantly.
Whats ERP?
- Different modules for different departments
- Different business processes
- Reporting and overview of the company.
ERP system handles different business processes and different department of a company while integrating all of them to give us reports on the level of department, business process, and company over all.
Business consolidation
At DHL I did kind of consolidation.
1. Data collection: Master and transactional data
2. Preparation: data validation, currency conversion, manual journal entry posting, intercompany matching and reconciliation.
3. Consolidation: Intercompany elimination. Versioning – Actual, plan, predictive.
4. Reporting:
Financial consolidation:
- Collecting financial data from subsidiaries.
- Making adjustments and eliminations to ensure uniformity and remove intercompany transactions.
- Translating foreign currencies into a common reporting currency.
- Making consolidation entries to combine the financial data.
- Preparing consolidated financial statements.
- Reporting and analysis of the consolidated financial statements.
