An area whose surface is at, or near right angles to the source of light; a bright or whiter part.
Highlight
An area whose surface does not recieve the full rays or light, or is obscured by another surface, reflecting the minimum amount of light; the shaded or darker part.
Shadow
Add a slightly lighter than the general complexion coloring.
Highlighting
Apply a color slightly darker than the general complexion coloring.
Shadowing
Done immediately after application of the complexion cosmetic (if alteration of the colorant is not necessary).
