Do NOT give aspirin to a child < 18 years old, it can cause Reye’s syndrome.
Give acetaminophen or NSAIDs instead. Sometimes aspirin is prescribed by the HCP for treatment of Kawasaki’s disease. So only give aspirin to a child if it’s prescribed.
How long after an antipyretic is given should the temperature be checked again for evaluation?
Within 30 - 60 minutes.
