- calculi in the kidneys
- renal calculi and ureteral calculi
- Ureteral calculi almost always originate in the kidneys and may continue to grow in the ureter
- majority of calculi contain calcium
- pain in renal colic is primarily caused by dilation and spasm because of the ureteral obstruction
