Q

Descent prep for FLS (F-LOC, F-G/S) approach involves:

A

Perf approach page - check/select FLS guidance
F-PLN A page - check 0.1 degree vertical path, check 1 degree lateral path
**FLS data check - ** press the LS button to display FLS data, check against published chart:
* the anchor point
* the course of the F-LOC beam
* the sleop of the F-GS beam
* on the ND check compatability of FLS beam with the final approach leg of the flight plan
-For ILS G/S out, G/S deselect on rad nav page

Q

What are the tolerances for all approaches:

A

Descent rate - less than or equal to 1000fpm
VASI - any significant deviation from nominated visual approach path
Centreline - unless specificed in procedure, the a/c is tracking the centreline with all manoeuvring complete by 500’ RA
Airspeed - target airspeed -5 - +10 at and below 500’ RA
Thrust - a/c eneregy levels are correct for confirmation and prevailing conditions

Q

What are the tolerances for instrument approaches:

A

ILS/GLS/LLZ - LOC - 1/2 dot “LOC”
G/S - 1/2 dot “GLIDE”
F-APP displayed: less than 1 x RNP (0.3) from IAF or IF, after intercepting F-LOC 1/2 dot
VOR - 2.5 degrees
RNP-AR - lateral - less than 1 x RNP
- vertical - prior to VIP, not below min segment alt, after the VIP, 3/4 dot (75’) below vertical profile

17
Q

What is the stable approach criteria?

A
  1. All normal checklists completed
  2. The aircraft is fully configured for landing with the flaps surfaces in their final position for landing
  3. The aircrafts approach path is contained within the flight parameter tolerances

All approaches must be stable at AND BELOW 500’ RA

18
Q

Approach tolerances

Flight paramter call-outs on approach:

A

“SPEED” - -5 +10
“SINK RATE” - descent rate exceeds 1000fpm
“BANK” - bank angle exceeds 7 degrees
“PITCH” - lower than -2.5, greater than 7.5
“LOC” “GLIDE” - 1/2 dot
“CROSS TRACK” - XTK greater than 0.1nm
“V/DEV” - vertical deviation greater than 1/2 dot
“COURSE” - 1/2 dot or 2.5 degrees VOR

19
Q

Approach tolerances

RNAV (RNP) approach call-outs:

A

“LAT DEV” - L/DEV reaches 1/2 dot
“V/DEV” - 1/2 dot
“SINK RATE” - descent rate exceeds 1000fpm
“BANK” - bank angle goes above 30 degrees

20
Q

Call outs

Landing parameter call outs:

A

“PITCH PITCH” - if pitch attitude approaches tailstrike pitch limit indicator or reaches 10 degrees
“BANK BANK” = if the bank angle reaches 7 degree

21
Q

Call outs

Go-Around parameter callouts

A

“BANK” - if bank angle greater than 7
“PITCH” - pitch greater than 20, or less than 10
