  1. The widespread use of birth control
  2. Change in the status of women - jobs and careers over marriage and family
  3. Low number of children = contraception and couples having children much later in marriage
  4. Wealth of country and high standard of living
  5. Improvement in living standard by having less children
  6. Healthcare, Education, Housing and Employment

  1. No future workforce due to lack of young people
  2. Elderly care demand increases
  3. Underpopulation - Both birth and death rate are low and almost the same
  4. Economically active have to provide for larger dependent age group such as increased taxes

  1. Overpopulation - A reduction in the existing population would improve the lives of those remaining
  2. Lack of food
  3. Poor housing
  4. People forced into living in poor accommodation such as shanty towns
  5. High unemployment - Too many for jobs available

A fairly low birth rate on both male and females
Bulge in the middle age groups between 15 to 60 - shows where majority of population is
