the caste system was a from of society, people were born into their caste. you were not allowed to move into a different sate, the laws are what dictated what you could and could not do. there are 5 levels
- Dalit/untouchable they are the lowest, and performed unclean jobs like street,sweepets,waste handlers, dead boy handlers.

- Vaishya, merchants, landowners
- Ksatrivia, warriors and rulers
