A
  • Policies for High Quality operations:
    • Ensure safety
    • Achieve max efficiency
    • Maintain schedule
    • Passenger comfort
  • Conduct flight based on policy above
  • Any disagreement, use safer option
  • If either think the flight is unsuitable, DON’T GO
  • Captain has final responsibility for safety
  • Dispatcher supports captain using personnel, equipment & authorities so that flights are safe & efficient
  • Do not fly if crew members are unfit for duty

Windshear escape?

A
  • Disengage A/P
  • Push G/A switch
  • Aggressively apply MAX thrust
  • Disconnect A/T
  • Simultaneously ROLL wings LVL and rotate toward an initial pitch ATT of 15’
  • Speedbrake lever DOWN
  • Follow FD guidance (If avail)
  • Do not change GEAR & FLAP config until WS no longer a factor
  • Monitor VS and ALT
  • Do not attempt to regain lost A/S until WS no longer a factor

GPWS escape?

A
  • Disengage A/P
  • Disconnect A/T
  • Aggressively apply maximum thrust
  • Simultaneously roll wings level and rotate to an initial pitch atttude of 20’
  • Set the SPEEDBRAKE lever to DOWN
  • If terrain remains a threat, continue rotation up to pitch limit indicator, stick shaker or initial buffet
  • Do not change flap or gear configuration until terrain separation is assured
  • Monitor RADALT for sustained or increasing terrain separation
  • When clear of terrain, slowly decrease pitch attitude and accelerate
  • FLIGHT AT STICK SHAKER MAY BE REQ’D
  • DO NOT USE F/D COMMANDS

A
  • If comms lost for 1 minute squawk 7600
  • Contact Tower, if unable, proceed VFR
  • If unable:
    • Rwy 34L/R, proceed to GIINA at last assigned altitude or 4000 whichever is higher and conduct instrument approach to rwy 34L
    • Rwy 16L/R, proceed to LAKES at the last assigned altitude or 6000 whichever is higher and conduct instrument approach to rwy 16R

  • If comms lost for 1 minute in pattern or 5 sec (PAR) / 15 sec (ASR) squawk 7600
  • Contact Tower, if unable, proceed VFR
  • If unable:
    • Conduct VOR or ILS approach
    • Maintain 3000 until esablished on approach
    • If below 3000 if established on apporach, contiue approach
    • If not on approach climb to 3000 and proceed to intital approach fix and conduct approach
