1

Latissimus Dorsi Origen and Insertion

Origen:

- Spinous process T7-T12 Directly

- Spinous process Lumbar Indirectly

- Thoraco Fascia (aponeurotic membrane)

- Posterior 1/3 of Iliac crest through Thoraco Fascia

Costal Part:

- Join superficial part

- Goes convergly passes inferior angle of scapula

- Parallel to Teres Major

Insertion:

- Intertubercular groove of the humerus bone

2

Latissimus Dorsi Action

- Depresses the elevated limb

- Middle rotation

- Abduction

- Hyperextension

Costal attachment:

- Slowly contraction elevates the lower ribs (Inspiratory muscle)

- Sudden contration compresses thorax (caughing reflex)

3

Latissimus Dorsi Innervation

Thoracodorsal Nerve

4

Latissimus Dorsi

Superficial Layer

With Costal Part with Teres Major builds the Posterior axillary fold

5

Levator Scapulae

6

Rhomboid Major

Intermediate Layer

Flat thin

Creates a gap to allow vessles to pass through

7

Rhomboid Minor

Intermediate Layer

Flat thin

Creates a gap to allow vessles to pass through

8

Serratus Posterior Inferior

9

Serratus Posterior Superior

10

Trapezius

Superficial Layer

Rhomboid Speculum

- Between spinous process C5-T1 form rhomboid aponeurotic tendinous structure

- Palpable

- Stabilization of stabilisation of extended vertebral column

11

Trapezius Innervation

Accessory Nerve

12

Trapezius Origen and Insertion

Originates:

- External Occipital protuberance and superior nuchal line

- To T12

Insertion Decending Part:

- Acromium end of clavicle

Insertion Horizontal Part:

- Acromium

- Lateral part of scapular spine

Insertion Acceding Part:

- Medial part of scapula spine

13

Trapezius Action

Decending Part:

- Elevates Clavicle

Horizontal Part:

- Retracts Scapula

Accending Part:

- Rotates Scapula

- Depresses Scapula

14

Rhomboid Minor Origen and Insertion

Origen:

- Spinous process C6, C7

Insertion:

- Superior 1/3 medial border of scapula

15

Rhomboid Major Origen and Insertion

Origen:

- T1 - T4

Insertion:

- Inferior 2/3 medial border of scapula

16

Rhomboid Minor Action

Retration of scapula

17

Rhomboid Major Action

Retration of scapula

Rotation of scapula

18

Rhomboid Major Innervation

Dorsal Scapular Nerve

19

Rhomboid Minor Innervation
