Latissimus Dorsi Origen and Insertion

A

Origen:

  • Spinous process T7-T12 Directly
  • Spinous process Lumbar Indirectly
  • Thoraco Fascia (aponeurotic membrane)
  • Posterior 1/3 of Iliac crest through Thoraco Fascia

Costal Part:

  • Join superficial part
  • Goes convergly passes inferior angle of scapula
  • Parallel to Teres Major

Q

Latissimus Dorsi Action

A
  • Depresses the elevated limb
  • Middle rotation
  • Abduction
  • Hyperextension

Costal attachment:

  • Slowly contraction elevates the lower ribs (Inspiratory muscle)
  • Sudden contration compresses thorax (caughing reflex)
