Q

Give two examples of how AIC follows Lehstruck’s play format

A
  • Inspector Goole:
  • As a Lehrstück figure, the Inspector’s questioning style forces the Birlings to confront their moral failings
  • encouraging the audience to reflect on their own complicity (participation in wrongdoing) in societal injustices
  • Eric:
  • Eric’s remorseful acknowledgment of his actions reflects the Lehrstück aim of provoking the audience to consider their role of exploiting others -> socialism is already having a positive effect on audience in 1945 -> persuaded to have good morals + advocate for SOCIALISM
