Q

You are AUTO lasing and have launched the missile, just after rifle you have a minor emergency e.g. ENG Failure, how should you react?

A

FS: Keep the aircraft stable and complete BF as req e.g. get to 75, confirm CAST etc.
RS: Likely continue the lase, complete BF

Q

Explain how a rapid engagement should be planned and executed:

A

Planning:
- Below 3kms range, ToF is approx 12 sec, that’s the min time to launch a missile and change targets, I.e. below 3ks Rapid isn’t possible
- Engage the furthest targets in the array first

Executed
- Don’t change FoV to switch TGTS, it stops the laser
- Subsequent trigger pull around 5sec ToF works well

Q

During the weapon checks, what is different for HF?

A
  • Give the RMS your symbology
  • Activate during the check to confirm spool up
  • Reconfirm laser and missile

E.g. “Single, LOAL LO engagement, right inner, Alpha missile, Alpha code, AUTO lase”

Q

How do the flying pilot actions post “Rifle” differ if AUTO vs Remote lase?

A

AUTO
- Fly cross to box prior to missile launch, once rifle confirmed you can turn towards the TGT direct

AUT
- Re-mask the aircraft or turn away from the TGT

Q

Explain the sequence for a diving PHMS engagement RKT into GUN from the offset to the pull:

A
  1. Offset early ~3700m, DMGT on
  2. Pop early ~3200m, post pop DMGT off
  3. Range for RKTs approx 2300m
  4. “Stable” before 2500m, BC calls 2500m activate, HDG, range, fire… x3
  5. Through 2000m, switch to gun, range to 1500, fire at 1700 short, 1500m on TGT, 1300m long
  6. Deactivate, SAFE, Pull
