About ASVAB on Brainscape

What is ASVAB?

Whether you want to enlist in the military or someone you know wants to, you need to know about the ASVAB. The ASVAB test, short for Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery, is a standardized exam used to measure an individual’s aptitude to determine enlistment qualifications for service in the US Armed Forces.

Unlike most of the perceptions towards ASVAB, it is not an intelligence exam, but rather a test of an individual’s strength and weaknesses in various areas. It assists recruitment officers to discern an applicant’s suitability for specific military jobs or appropriate placement in particular branches of service in the armed forces.

The ASVAB is used by the US Army, Marine Corps, Air Force, Coast Guard, and Navy. The exam includes Science, Math, and Reading as well as knowledge in some areas including automotive & shop, electronic, and mechanical concepts. It is offered in two versions, the Paper & Pencil version, and the Computer Adaptive (CAT) version.

Learning ASVAB

Since ASVAB involves topics on Science, Arithmetic, Reading, Mathematics, Word Knowledge, Paragraph Comprehension, Electronics, Auto & Shop, Mechanical, and Object Assembly, you need to know the basics of these subjects.

As with any examination, how well you do depend on how well you prepare and review for the test. To study effectively, you may need study tools to speed up the learning process and strengthen your memory retention.

Learn Faster in Brainscape

Brainscape is a web and mobile education platform that boasts of its exceptional implementation of what we call as Confidence-Based Repetition (CBR). The CBR process makes use of the three cognitive science learning methods including Active Recall, Metacognition, and Spaced Repetition.

Many studies have proven the effectiveness of these learning methods before, but nobody has applied these more effectively than Brainscape.

We wish you the very best in your journey towards your military enlistment. Thank you for your desire in joining the United States Armed Forces!
