indications

A

failure of baby to progress, abnormal uterine action, cephalopelvic disproportion, malpresentation/malposition, APH, rupture, placenta praevia, hypertension, DM, fetal distress, isoimmunisation

what is the transverse incision

A

through the lower uterine segment

which technique is used

A

transverse. classical is rarely used ( vertical incision)

when would classic incision be used

A

transverse lie with stuck shoulder, lower segment very vascular, extensive adhesions

what is the syndrome for aspiration following anaesthesia

A

mendelsons syndrome. empty the stomach before extubation.

signs mendelson syndrome

A

cyanosis, bronchospasm, pulm oedema, tachy

indications emergency C section

A

severe pre eclampsia, placental abruption, fetal distress, prolapsed cord, failed induction, failure to progress

when should give LMWH post op

A

if >1 risk factor - give 7 days postnatally. if VTE in pregnancy give 6 weeks postpartum
