Q

What is a joint capsule composed of?

A
  1. Fibrous capsule: outer layer; blends w/ ligaments for support
  2. Synovial membrane: contains cells that produce synovial fluid
  3. Synovial fluid: reduces friction and nourishes articulation cartilage
  4. Articulation cartilage: smooth covering on bone ends (no blood supply or nerves)
