What steps would you have done before metal framework try-in?
What should you do when you first get your metal framework?
Why may framework not fit on the cast model?
What clues can you obtain by studying the models that you may have problems fitting your framework?
Eg of cast problem
Impression made may have been incorrect therefore fits on cast but patients actual mouth is different
1
What to check during metal framework tryin?
2
What not to do? Why?
1
- make sure it is not hurting the patient
- make sure the framework is seated down completely
- can use cast to help determine path of insertion and then place in patient mouth
2
- force framework into patients mouth
- as may hurt the patient or get stuck
- HENCE better to take step back and take another impression and try again
How can you tell if the framework is seated down completely? / what do you look at?
Why are these important to look at?
If framework does not seat down fully,
1
How will you check where the issue is
2
how will you correct this?
1
- can use articulations paper to check occlusion
2
- can trim down framework tight areas BUT can only do this to a certain extent as if over trim there is a risk of framework breaking (TIP metal can get hot when trim down so ensure you allow it to cool before placing it back in patients mouth)
Rather than adjusting a loose claps at the framework stage, what can we do?
If frame work fits down well what else do we need go check?
How?
1
What may prevent patients teeth coming together?
2
What is preventing them coming together in the image?
3
How may we overcome this?
If the framework fit is acceptable what is the next clinical stage?
(Sometimes metal try-in + definitive jaw reg stages are combined hence next stage in this case would be wax try in stage)
What instructions do you need to write on your lab prescription?
