Intersting facts about Neisseria Gonorrhea

A

Obligate human pathogen

Local infection: genital tract or anorectal infections

Systemic infection: septic arthritis

Complications: (if untreated -> sequelae)
Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), ectopic pregnancy, sterility, Fitz-Hugh-Curtis Syndrome

What is Fitz-High-Cutis Syndrome?

A

After the N. Gonorrhea progresses through the uterus fallopian tube and ovaries (pelvic inflam disease), it can go out fo the fallopian tubes into the peritoneal cavity (peritonitis)
IT can then move to the liver capsule, causing Fitz-Hugh-Curtis Syndrome
