1

What are the three compartments of the thigh?

Anterior, Medial and Posterior

2

What are the function within the anterior compartment of the thigh?

Flex hip and extend knee

3

What are the functions within medial compartment of the thigh?

Adduct hip

4

What are the functions with the posterior compartment of the thigh?

Extend hip and flex knee

5

What are the hip flexors in the anterior thigh?

Iliacus, Psoas major, Pectineus and Sartorius

6

What are the knee extensors in the anterior thigh?

Quadriceps:
Rectus femoris, Vastus medialis, Vastus lateralis and Vastus Intermedius

7

What is the proximal attachment of the Iliacus?

Iliac crest, foss, ala of sacrum, anterior sacroiliac ligament

8

What is the distal attachment of the iliacus?

Psoas tenon and lesser trochanter

9

What is the innervation of iliacus?

Femoral nerve (L2,3)

10

What is the proximal attachment of the Psoas major?

T12-L5, IV discs, lumbar transverse processes

11

What is the distal attachment of the Psoas major?

Lesser trochanter

12

What is the innervation in the Psoas major?

Anterior rami L1-L3

13

What is the proximal attachment of the Pectineus?

Superior ramus of pubis

14

What is the distal attachment of the Pectineus?

Pectineal line of femur

15

What is the innervation of the Pectineus?

Femoral nerve (L2, L3)

16

What is the function of the Pectineus?

Adduct and flex hip; assist with medial rotation

17

What is the proximal attachment of Sartorius?

Anterior superior iliac spine

18

What is the distal attachment of Sartorius?

Superior part of medial surface tibia

19

What is the innervation of Sartorius?

Femoral nerve (L2, L3)

20

What is the function of Sartorius?

Flex, abduct, laterally rotate hip and flex knee

21

What is the proximal attachment of Rectus femoris?

AIIS, ilium above acetubulum

22

What is the proximal attachment of Vastus lateralis?

Greater trochanter and lateral lined aspera

23

What is the proximal attachment of Vastus Medialis?

Intertrochanteric line and medial linea aspera

24

What is the proximal attachment of Vastus Intermedius?

Anterior and lateral shaft of femur

25

What is the distal attachment of Rectis femurs, Vastus Lateralis, Vastus medialis and vests intermedius?

Quadriceps tendon then tibial tuberosity via patellar ligament

26

What innervates the knee extensors?

Femoral nerve (L2, 3 and 4)

27

What is the passage of the femoral nerve?

Passes deep to inguinal ligament, medial to ASIS, on tendon of iliopsoas muscle

28

What are the Muscular branches of femoral nerve?

Anterior thigh

29

What are the Articular branches of femoral nerve?

Hip and Knee

30

What are the cutaneous branches of the femoral nerve?

Anteromedial thigh
