Q

How can you open the cargo doors on the ground when the aircraft is not powered?

Q

What functions of the yellow system are available if the yellow pump is activated by ground handling personnel for cargo door operation?

A

All yellow system functions are inhibited except for alternate braking, engine 2 reverse and cargo door operation

10
Q

Why might the engine 1 pump fault light not go on on the ground, even when the engine is not on and therefore not producing pressure?

A

The fault light for pump low pressure is inhibited on the ground to prevent nuisance warnings

16
Q

What are the indications on the ECAM HYD SD page when the yellow pump is switched on?

A

White empty triangle when off

Green filled triangle when on

(amber filled triangle when pump is on but system has low pressure)

17
Q

When does the PTU operate automatically?

A

When the pressure difference between the green and yellow system is greater than 500psi

18
Q

With hydraulic systems, when there is a fault, the FAULT light is displayed on the pb. Normally, when the pb is turned off, the fault light disappears, except in which case?

A

Overheat. The fault light will remain on as long as the overheat condition exists

19
Q

What is the PTU logic during engine starts?

A

It is inhibited during first engine start.

It is automatically tested during second engine start.

It is inhibited when yellow electric pump is used for cargo door operation

20
Q

When does the RAT deploy automatically?

A

Loss of AC BUS 1 and 2, with airspeed greater than 100kts

21
Q

When can the RAT be stowed?

A

On the ground only

22
Q

How are the hydraulic reservoirs pressurised? Why are they pressurised?

A

Pneumatic air. This is done to prevent cavitation

23
Q

Which systems have fire shutoff valves?

A

Green and yellow

24
Q

What do the fire shutoff valves do?

A

Cut hydraulic fluid to the respective engine driven pump

25
How are the fire shutoff valves closed?
Pushing the engine fire push button switch
26
If a fire shutoff valve is closed, is that hydraulic system lost?
No - it can still be powered with the PTU
27
What is the purpose of the hydraulic accumulator?
It assists in maintaining a constant pressure during normal operation
28
Which hydraulic systems have accumulators?
All three (one for each system)
29
Which hydraulic systems have priority valves?
All three
30
What do the priority valves do?
If system pressure is low, the priority valve will cut off hydraulic pressure to the high-load users, such as slats, flaps and gear, in order to maintain the operation of essential flight controls
31
In the green and yellow system, what is the flow of the hydraulic fluid?
The fluid flows from the reservoirs to the engine pumps through the fire shutoff valves. From the engine pumps, hydraulic fluid flows to the hydraulically operated system components, and then back to the reservoirs via the return manifold
32
In the blue system, what is the flow of the hydraulic fluid?
Hydraulic fluid flows from the reservoir to the electric pump (or RAT if extended), then flows to the hydraulically operated system components and back to the reservoir
33
At what pressure does the HYD G ENG PUMP LO PR trigger?
1450psi
34
In a G+Y HYD failure, what is available for stopping?
Accumulator pressure only
