What are some characteristics of spastic dysarthria?
Strained-strangled voice quality when sustaining vowel, slow and effortful articulation, diadokokinesis fatigue, possible dysphagia, emotional lability
What is the voice quality of spastic dysarthria similar to?
Like lifting something heavy
Laugh or cry for no reason at any time
Emotional lability (pseudobulbar affect)
What can spastic dysarthria be caused by?
Stroke, degenerative disease, TBI, inflammation, toxins, metabolic disorders
