Which drugs are the elderly more sensitive too?

Opioids, benzos, anti psychotics, parkinson's drugs

Reduced renal clearance
Therefore excrete drugs slowly and more susceptible to nephrotoxics

Confusion, constipation, hypotension, falls

Can cause falls

Long term for gravitational oedema

Which analgesia is dangerous in the elderly?

NSAIDs are more dangerous: bleeding, cardiac and renal implications
Use paracetamol, if needed use low dose ibuprofen then opioid
Use PPI prophylaxis
