Flashcards in Week 4.1 - Osteology of the pelvis Deck (6)
What is linea terminalis?
-Boundary of entry into the true pelvis (lesser pelvis)
Describe a gynecoid pelvis
-Straight side walls
-Ischial spines not too prominent
-Well-rounded greater sciatic notch
-Well curved sacrum
-Infrapubic angle > 90 degrees
What is assessed during a pelvic clinical assessment?
-Pelvic inlet (anteroposterior diameter)
-Mid-pelvis (straight sidewalls and bispinous diameter)
-Pelvic outlet (Distance between iscial tuberosities and infrapubic angle)
What are the pelvic conjugates?
-Measurements of the anteroposterior diameter of the pelvis
-Anatomic conjugate from sacral promontory to superior border of pubic symphysis
-Obstetric conjugate from sacral promontory to midpoint pubic symphysis
-Diagonal conjugate from sacral promomtory to inferior border of pubic symphysis
Name the 3 major ligaments of the pelvis
